The NCD Alliance and event co-hosts, the Rwanda NCD Alliance are delighted to share the Preliminary Programme for the Global NCD Alliance Forum taking place in Kigali, Rwanda, from 20 to 22 October. This preliminary programme provides an overview of the pre-conferences, high-level plenaries, thematic parallel and satellite sessions, activities and social events that you can expect in Kigali.
We are excited by the variety of NCD and global health issues covered in the programme, as well as the breadth of organisations involved from across the NCD community. Session details will continue to be added and expanded upon in the coming weeks, including the interactive sessions being run in the Community Zone adjacent to the main Convention Centre.
The Forum is NCDA’s flagship global convening event, held every two years to unite the movement to promote knowledge exchange, share good practices, and strengthen the capacity to advocate for the prevention and control of NCDs. It will take place in Africa for the first time to spotlight the continent as one of the global epicentres of the NCD epidemic. We thank you for your support and engagement to make the 2024 Forum a vibrant and impactful event.

Mpox outbreak
Following an escalation of cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo and some neighbouring countries, both WHO and Africa CDC have declared mpox a public health emergency last week. The main aim of these declarations is to learn from the previous mpox emergency and fast-track a coordinated international and regional response, ensure that diagnostics and vaccines are urgently available for the populations most at risk, particularly those with immunodeficiencies for HIV, men who have sex with men, and sexual workers, and unlock necessary resources. Africa CDC’s Director General has stressed that the movement of people and goods will continue.
Please be assured that the NCD Alliance and our partners are monitoring the situation closely and will keep all Forum delegates informed. We are in regular contact with our local host Rwanda NCD Alliance, as well as the Ministry of Health of Rwanda, the Rwanda Biomedical Centre and Africa CDC.
