Advancing gender-responsive NCD policies: inspiring leaders for gender equity and human rights
Addressing the urgent and complex challenge of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and mental health conditions (MHCs) in low-resource settings requires innovative thinking and a stronger emphasis on bottom-up solutions, co-created with communities experiencing marginalisation to inspire leadership. The NCD epidemic significantly impacts the health of women and girls, exacerbating vulnerabilities due to deep-rooted social, gender, and economic inequalities.
In this session, members of the American Heart Association, the Taskforce on Women and NCDs, PATH, the Healthy India Alliance, and the George Institute for Global Health will facilitate an interactive discussion focusing on four key areas of collaboration to enhance meaningful involvement, health services and outcomes for women and girls. The session will also delve into the urgent need for all stakeholders, including civil society and governments, to prioritise meaningful involvement of women and girls as a part of their NCD action plans.
